A WELL-known restaurant, bar, and wedding venue has had its licence suspended.
Calderdale Council received an application from West Yorkshire Police for a summary review of the premises licence for Casa, on Elland Road in Brighouse.
At a meeting, councillors agreed to suspend the licence immediately pending a full review.
A Calderdale Council spokesperson said: “Last week, we received an application from West Yorkshire Police for a summary review of Casa’s premises licence, on the basis that the statutory licensing objectives are not met.
“At the Council’s Licensing Subcommittee meeting on Thursday, August 8, councillors agreed that Casa’s licence would be suspended immediately pending a full review of the licence.
“We will carry out the review within the next month, which will involve looking into whether the business is being managed and operated in line with its licence conditions and the Licensing Act 2003.
“Representations from interested parties can be made until Friday, August 23, 2024, by emailing licensing@calderdale.gov.uk.”
The licence suspension follows an arrest last week.
Police said that on Monday, August 5, officers “were called to assist with a warrant on behalf of an energy supplier at premises in Elland Road, Brighouse”.
A spokesperson said: “Officers attended and arrested a man on suspicion of abstracting electricity. Further enquiries are being made.”
The T&A approached Casa for comment.
