FIRE officers are investigating the cause of a blaze at a scrapyard that burned into the early hours of this morning.
The fire, at a scrapyard on Bradford Road in Otley, sent black plumes of smoke billowing into the air shortly after it started on Monday afternoon.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service received the call just after 3.30pm.
At the time, a spokesperson for the fire service said: "This fire is approximately 40x40m in size, with a large plume of smoke."
Crews used foam and large jets to tackle the blaze and all residents in the local area (LS21) were asked to keep doors and windows closed due to the smoke in the air.
Today, the fire service issued the following update, which said: "The fire was fully extinguished in the early hours and investigations continue into the cause."
Engines from Rawdon, Shipley, Cookridge, Bingley, and Stanningley fire stations all attended the blaze as did a special foam unit team.
Bradford Road was closed while crews worked to extinguish the fire.
Bus services were also diverted from the area.
