MODEL boat enthusiasts are in for a treat as a club hosts an open day over the bank holiday weekend.

Rawdon Model Boat Club will showcase an impressive array of radio-controlled boats on its privately-owned lake, Larkfield Tarn, running the gamut from yachts to warships.

Refreshments will be served in the clubhouse, with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors.

The club was established in 2003, while the tarn dates back to the 1820s, when it was constructed to supply water to a nearby textile mill.

There has been a model boat club on Larkfield Tarn since the 1930s.

Admission to the open day is free, and there may be model boats for sale.

The event will take place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, August 24.

Rawdon Model Boat Club can be found off Larkfield Road, Rawdon, LS19 6EQ.
