TICKETS for the opening weekend of Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival are now on sale.
The 47th edition of the new and experimental music festival will take place over ten days, from Friday, November 15 to Sunday, November 24, and feature concerts, installations, exhibitions, talks and workshops.
Kick-starting the festival on Friday, November 15 will be a special concert from the Arditti Quartet as they celebrate their fiftieth anniversary, followed by the UK premiere of Ann Cleare’s TERRARIUM, performed by Crash Ensemble.
The next day, Composer in Residence Lina Lapelytė collaborates with Rhodri Davies’ Common Objects ensemble and a choir of singers who "consider themselves to be non-musical," for the UK premiere of Study of Slope.
Saturday, November 16 also sees premieres from Claudia Molitor and trumpeter and composer Wadada Leo Smith.
Wadada Leo Smith's string quartets, performed by Ligeti Quartet, will launch the programme on Sunday, November 17.
The day continues with a comeback by defunensemble, as well as the UK premiere of South Korean cellist and composer Okkyung Lee's recent work, Signals, performed with Explore Ensemble.
Closing out the opening weekend is an exclusive performance of Streik, a new composition for ten drumkits by Enno Poppe, performed with the Percussion Orchestra Cologne.
