THREE people were taken to hospital after a tree fell onto a car on a Bradford road this afternoon.

Emergency services, including the police and ambulance service, were called to the scene just before 4pm today (Monday) on Bingley Road in Nab Wood, to reports that a tree fell onto a car on with three occupants inside.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call at 3.54pm on Monday afternoon to report a tree falling onto a car on Bingley Road in the Nab Wood area of Bradford.

"A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene and the three occupants of the car were conveyed to Airedale Hospital to be checked over."

The tree was blocking the road causing traffic chaos in the area.

A passer-by told the T&A: "A massive tree has fallen down blocking the road by Nab Wood Cemetery.

"There's a car stuck there with a branch in its window.

"It's causing havoc on the roads."

Another passer-by said just after 4pm: "Traffic is at a standstill both ways."

The T&A has also contacted Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Police for more information.
