A MAJOR bypass connecting Leeds and Bradford will be closed overnight.

Stanningley Bypass will be shut from 8pm this evening until 6am tomorrow morning.

The Bradford end of the bypass begins at Dawsons Corner, which connects up with Bradford Road to head on towards Thornbury, or Pudsey and Farsley, as well as Ring Round Farsley, where motorists can head towards Rodley, Calverley, Horsforth, and beyond.

At the other end of the bypass is the Armley area of Leeds and routes into the city centre.

First West Yorkshire said on X at 7pm that two of its services will be affected by the closure.

These are its X11 and X6 buses.

The X11 runs between Leeds and Bradford, via Pudsey, while the X6 has the same destinations but its route runs for more time along Stanningley Bypass.

Both buses will divert via Cockshot Lane, Bramley Town End, and Stanningley Road to Dawsons Corner on the way to Bradford, following the reverse of that heading to Leeds.

Meanwhile, the Ring Road in Bramley will also be closed overnight too, between 8pm and 6am tomorrow.

This means the 4 and 4F bus services - which serve between Pudsey and Seacroft - are diverting.

They will divert via Lowton, Hough Side Road, and Pudsey Road in both directions, according to First West Yorkshire.
