A PENSIONER has thanked the Telegraph & Argus after Bradford Council took action following a story.
Earlier this week, the council admitted that work to fix a paving slab was not done to a "satisfactory standard" after Maureen Randle was seriously injured in a fall.
The 83-year-old went to hospital as she sustained heavy facial injuries and grazes to her arms, elbow, and knees following the trip.
Maureen was on her way back from church when she took a tumble on Hirst Lane in Shipley.
After the incident, the council put a white cross on the slab and laid some cement underneath it.
Mrs Randle said: "All they had done was make it look less threatening. It is still a hazard.
"It was just a quick fix which wasn’t a fix at all."
On Thursday, the council said work to rectify the issue would be carried out in the next "seven days".
But by Friday, the area had been covered in asphalt
"What a difference a day makes," Maureen said as she thanked the T&A.
