A TEENAGER fell almost 30 feet into a rival while visiting a much-loved Yorkshire Dales beauty spot.
Police, ambulance and Cave Rescue were called to the River Doe while at Beezley Falls, Ingleton, just after 1pm on Thursday.
A female canyoneer, who was part of a group, fell into the water near Ingleton Waterfalls Trail.
A spokesperson for Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) said: " Her group leaders had brought her out onto the bank, where she was complaining of back pain. Team members attended together with paramedics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS).
"After a check by the paramedics the team stretchered her back to the ambulance for further assessment, using a simple rope system to protect the carry up a steep flight of steps. Many thanks to North Yorkshire Police and the visitors who kindly cleared the path so that we could efficiently evacuate the casualty."
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police paid tribute to the CRO and the paramedics and added : "The role of the police at jobs like these is minimal, but valuable. We can assist with access to sites, crowd and traffic management, lifting and carrying additional equipment under the direction of the CRO, as well as conducting an investigation on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive.
"It's sometime easy to forget that policing isn't solely about crime fighting, and that public safety and joint working with other emergency services, quite rightly, takes up a proportion of our time."
