THE owners of a care home in the Bradford district have explained why it has closed for good.

Formations Care Home on St Paul's Road, Shipley, shut earlier this summer - with the building now up for sale.

Formations Care Services Ltd, the company which operated the home, said the residents who lived there had found "suitable alternative accommodation".

The owners of the business said they decided to leave the adult care sector in the spring and pointed out that the home's closure was planned.

They said they would continue to deliver services for children and young people across the Bradford area, however.

The owners thanked staff members who worked at the home and wished them well in their future roles.

In 2018, the Care Quality Commission rated Formations Care Home as 'outstanding' overall.

A spokesperson for Formations Care Services Ltd told the Telegraph & Argus: "The organisation made a decision to leave the adult care sector in the spring this year and the closure of Formations Care Home was a planned closure.

"The home worked closely with Bradford Council, the home's residents and their relatives to ensure suitable alternative accommodation was found for everyone living in the home.

"We would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our amazing staff for their hard work and commitment in delivering an 'outstanding' care home over the past seven years and wish them well in their future roles.

"We would like to thank Bradford Council for its support over the years and for ensuring a positive transition during the closure weeks.

"We wish the residents and families well in their new homes.

"Formations Care Services Ltd will continue to deliver services for children and young people across Bradford."

Formations Care Services Ltd's website states: "Formations Care Services Ltd was developed by two local Bradford women committed to making a real and lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people in the district."

It adds the company operates four children's homes in the Bradford district and has an "absolute commitment to providing the very best care possible".

A spokesperson for Bradford Council said: "The owners of Formations Care Home took an operational decision to leave the adult care sector.

"The home closed in June this year.

"The Council worked closely with the care home owners to find suitable alternative accommodation for the home's residents."
