Bradford City fans are encouraged to relive their fondest club memories as part of a new virtual reality project from the University of Bradford.

The project aims to create a virtual representation of the University of Bradford Stadium, otherwise known as Valley Parade.

Fans' reminiscences will be attached to different places in both a digital and a physical copy of the stadium for people to explore.

Participants in the 'Stories from Valley Parade' project will complete an online survey answering questions about their experience of supporting Bradford City, also known as the Bantams.

The survey looks for information about fans' first games, standout matches, family members' memories of supporting the Bantams, where they sit at the stadium, and what it means to them to be a supporter of the club.

One question asks how people and communities rallied in the wake of the stadium fire on May 11, 1985, which claimed 56 lives and injured 258 others.

The survey is open until Monday, September 30.

Contributions will be revealed as part of the Bradford 2025 City of Culture festivities.

Chris Gaffney, professor of Archaeological Science at the University of Bradford, said: "We would love Bradford City fans to share their memories of supporting their team over the years for this exciting project.

"It is a mixture of the old and the new, as we use VR to showcase memories of the club from over the decades.

"Fans’ stories will provide us with a treasure trove of information on what the club means to them, simultaneously allowing us to produce a digital copy of the University of Bradford Stadium."

'Stories from Valley Parade' is one of two University of Bradford-led projects marking the 40th anniversary of the 1985 fire.

The Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit at the university is producing a book about its work helping burns victims worldwide.

Proceeds from the book will fund the Burns Unit's future research.

Davide Longo, Bradford City’s chief commercial officer, said: "We encourage as many of our supporters as possible to come and share their memories of Valley Parade as part of the University of Bradford’s exciting new project."

In 2022, the University signed a four-year sponsorship deal with Bradford City.

The deal sees the academic institution's logo on the team's kit, and the home ground officially renamed as the University of Bradford Stadium.
