CUSTOMERS are "guaranteed to know someone" in a friendly Bradford pub up for a Telegraph & Argus award.
The Great Northern Brewhouse, on Leeds Road in Thackley, is one of 10 nominated for our Best Pub 2024 competition.
Readers were invited to share their favourite watering holes and an amazing 6,389 nominations came in.
These were whittled down to the final 10 and we are now in the process of publishing profiles on each of them.
Grace Atha, assistant manager, says everyone who works at The Great Northern Brewhouse was delighted to learn the pub was a finalist.
"It is great to be nominated for the award. I am really proud of the team at the pub," she said.
"Dee, our general manager, puts her heart and soul into everything that goes on there.
"It is like your local community pub. Everyone that comes in gets on.
"We have always had a good relationship with our customers. They range from 18 to those who are older.
"It is that nice offering, a good social atmosphere you can enjoy sharing a few beers with friends."
The dog-friendly pub offers a range of deals for punters to enjoy throughout the week.
There is also a pizza kitchen on-site along with two beer gardens to catch the hot temperatures in the summer.
Grace added: "Everyone enjoys the quiz on Wednesdays.
"We have 50 per cent off pizzas on Thursdays. Cask ales are also £3 on a Wednesday. Most days we have got a nice offering.
"We have a loyalty scheme. You get a stamp per drink then you get a free one after every eight pints, up to the value of £6.
"I always compare it to getting a coffee where you usually have to collect 10 stamps to get a free one."
England's recent tournament run was a big success for the venue.
"We were fully booked during the Euros, there was a really good atmosphere," she said.
"The whole pub erupted when Oli Watkins scored that last-minute goal. Everyone enjoyed it.
"It was just a shame that we lost the final."
Asked why the pub may be in with a chance of winning the competition, Grace said: "It is a nice atmosphere within a clean venue.
"You are guaranteed to know someone in there, having a nice conversation and banter with the staff, enjoy a few drinks with friends and some food."
