STRONG concerns have been expressed after a child was pictured stood up in a moving supercar apparently videoing a wedding convoy in Bradford.
A key road was down to one lane yesterday afternoon as police directed traffic around a selection of eye-catching cars that had gathered.
The disruption was caused on Rooley Avenue in the Odsal area at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.
The road was temporarily reduced to a single lane towards Staygate as officers asked wedding guests to find alternative parking places.
The collection of supercars included a Bugatti, Lamborghinis, Porsches, and an Audi.
The T&A understands that the wedding party was due to set off for destinations including Ogden Water, with talk of helicopters also being involved to transport some of the guests.
The convoy departed at around 2.30pm and could be seen heading down Rooley Avenue and then along Rooley Lane towards the Dudley Hill roundabout.
It was on Rooley Avenue when the child could be seen stood up and appearing out of the top of the convertible red Lamborghini.
Wibsey Ward councillor Ralph Berry said: "I am appalled and concerned that a child has clearly been put at risk in this worrying case on a road that already has a tragic record of injuries to children.
"It is a matter for the police to act on this information in this case.
"On the issue of weddings and ‘supercars’, like all local councillors, I would repeat the call for people celebrating their big day to do this in a way that does not harm or cause nuisance to local residents."
Fellow Wibsey Ward councillor Sabiya Khan added: "Although weddings are joyful occasions there is an expectation for all citizens to be law abiding and live according to the rules of society and not create inconvenience or danger for other people.
"It is the duty of parents to ensure their children are safe and kept out of danger, I would encourage all parents to abide by these basic fundamental principles as children often do not understand about how behaviour of this nature can lead to accidents and at worst loss of life."
One motorist said: "I've passed there today and they're parked on the curb all down the road, absolutely appalling."
One woman said: "Wish I'd known sooner. My autistic teen loves these cars. I'd have brought him over."
When the T&A asked West Yorkshire Police for a comment, a spokesperson said: "We encourage anyone who captures footage of poor driving on West Yorkshire’s roads to submit the footage via our portal."
