A MAN has been punished with a community order for carrying a machete in Bradford city centre.
Amar Mahmood, 33, of Arncliffe Terrace, in Lidget Green was sentenced for possession of a knife blade or sharp-pointed article in a public place at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on June 19 after he was convicted of the offence earlier this year.
The details of sentencing were only made available to the Telegraph & Argus on Tuesday.
Mahmood denied the charge but was found guilty on April 11.
He was caught with a machete in Nelson Street on Bonfire Night last year.
The community order lasts for 12 months.
The court also ordered that the machete be forfeited and destroyed.
