A POLICE chase ended in a crash after armed officers were sent out to a BMW in Bradford following reports a man was in the vehicle with a firearm.

Two males, who ran off from the BMW X5, towards the Killinghall Road area following the collision with an Audi A4, are yet to be located.

West Yorkshire Police received a report of the white BMW in Gladstone Street, Barkerend, on 10.30pm on Tuesday night.

Officers carried out a search in the area and the car failed to stop.

A short pursuit then followed in which the vehicle was reportedly being driven dangerously.

The chase ended after the BMW was in collision with an Audi A4 in Maidstone Street.

The female Audi driver suffered minor injuries.

The BMW was recovered for further tests.

West Yorkshire Police statement

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 10.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, July 30) police received a report of man in a vehicle in Gladstone Street, Bradford, who was suspected to be in possession of a firearm.

"Armed officers were deployed to carry out an area search for the vehicle, a white BMW X5.

"This was sighted nearby a short time later and failed to stop."

The spokesperson added: "The pursuit ended after the vehicle was in collision with an Audi A4 in Maidstone Street.

"The female Audi driver suffered minor injuries.

"Two males ran off from the BMW towards the Killinghall Road area. They were not located.

"The BMW was recovered for further tests.

"Bradford District CID is continuing enquiries into this incident and anyone with information that may assist is asked to contact them on 101, or by using the livechat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 2102 of 30 July.
