THE former Tory MP for Shipley set up a new company before he lost his seat, it has emerged.

Labour's Anna Dixon won the constituency from Sir Philip Davies in the General Election on July 4.

Companies House records show Mr Davies founded a company, called Nessen Ltd, on June 20 -  two weeks before the election.

Mr Davies is the sole owner and managing director of the business, which has a registered office address of Mere, Cheshire.

His occupation is listed as 'consultant' on Companies House.

Mr Davies told the Telegraph & Argus: "Now that the election is over, and I am no longer the MP for Shipley, I have embarked on the next chapter in my life, which is working as an advisor to businesses and other organisation on regulation, corporate affairs, and customer service.

"The Shipley constituency and the Bradford district will always hold a special place in my heart and I will therefore offer special rates to any businesses who are based here."

Nessen Ltd's website states: "We can provide a wide range of services for your business - including corporate affairs, public affairs, regulatory guidance, reputational management, public and media relations, customer service advice and help preparing for Select Committee hearings.

"Our services can be provided for a specific project or as part of a retainer.

"We can also provide other services so if there is something you would like assistance with that is not mentioned here, please just ask.

"At Nessen we believe in giving advice that is in your interest and not our interest.

"We think that too many other businesses in this field give advice that suits them and their profitability rather than what is actually in their client's best interests.

"We will never do that."

The website adds: "Philip was elected as the MP for Shipley in 2005 and served nearly two decades in the House of Commons.

"Before that he worked for Asda in a variety of roles.

"Philip is married to Esther McVey - the Conservative MP for Tatton - and presented a twice weekly show on GB News with her."

Speaking to the T&A after his election defeat earlier this month, Mr Davies said: "I take full responsibility for my defeat - I'm not going to blame anybody else.

"I congratulate Anna."

Before the election, it emerged Mr Davies had placed a bet that he would lose his seat.

He said this was a "perfectly acceptable thing to do".
