LATEST NEWS: Winner of T&A's Best Pub 2024 competition can today be revealed
A PUB that offers "something for everyone" is over the moon to be in the running for a best of Bradford accolade.
The Woodlands Hotel, on Mill Carr Hill Road in Oakenshaw, is one of 10 nominated for the Telegraph & Argus' Best Pub 2024 competition.
Readers were invited to share their favourite watering holes and an amazing 6,389 nominations came in.
These were whittled down to the final 10 and we are in the process of publishing profiles on each of them.
Since reopening 18 months ago, The Woodlands has reached the lofty heights of number one on TripAdviser in the Bradford area.
Owner and chef Lee Marshall said: "It is quite an impressive area that we are in (when it comes to pubs), so really pleased to be nominated.
"It is icing on the cake. It shows what I am doing to the little village of Oakenshaw is working. The staff are buzzing off it.
"The Woodlands had been closed for nine months when I took it over (in February 2023).
"It has steadily grown. It has always been pretty good since opening the doors. We have been shocked by it.
"I have gone in and turned it around to become a brilliant little spot.
"It is great for food, drinking, live football, it has got everything going for it."
Starting aged 12 as a pot washer, Lee has worked in the pub and restaurant industry for 30 years.
Despite specialising in fine dining, the venue is also attracting customers by offering a range of other services.
"We do everything," Lee added.
"We have got great knowledge of hospitality. Everyone who walks through that door we just look after them.
"We do good food, good service, we have a laugh, and it just works.
He added: "It is great value for money.
"We have a loyalty card scheme. You get a stamp for every pint you buy then if you reach 10, you get £3 off your food. It keeps people coming.
"Every night there is a theme night. Wednesdays is pizza and wine, Thursday is steak, Pasta Friday, BOGOF burgers on Saturday, and Sunday lunch on Sunday.
"There is something for everyone. There is even a menu for dogs."
Don't miss out on your chance to vote for your favourite pub.
All you need to do is fill out the voting form, which can be found in the Telegraph & Argus until August 3.
