A MAN has been arrested and a pedestrian is fighting for his life after a crash.
West Yorkshire Police has launched an appeal for witnesses after a collision on Wakefield Road, in Huddersfield, outside Trugym at 6.10am on Friday.
It involved a black Nissan Juke car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian - a 53-year-old man - was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
These are "said to be life-threatening", according to a spokesperson for the force.
Officers arrested a 55-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He remains in custody at this time.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed it or saw the movements of the vehicle or pedestrian prior to the collision.
They are also interested in hearing from anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage.

"Police have launched an appeal for witnesses following a serious injury collision in Huddersfield.
"The incident involved a black Nissan Juke car and a male pedestrian, and occurred at about 6.10am today (Friday) on Wakefield Road, outside Tru Gym in the Moldgreen area.
"The pedestrian, 53, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which were said to be life-threatening.
"A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
"He remains in custody at this time.
"Enquiries into the collision are continuing and anyone who witnessed it, or who saw the movements of the vehicle or pedestrian prior to it is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101, or by using the livechat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website.
"Anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage which may assist is also asked to get in touch, quoting log reference 0280 of 26 July."
