A COMPANY that has been running for most of this century was overjoyed to win its first award in its home of Bradford.
Commerce Business Systems has been a business in the city since 2002.
It has been victorious on the national scene but never gained such acclaim locally, according to Managing Director John Green.
On the night, Commerce Business Systems managed to beat Slipstream Engineering Design and MRMS Solutions to the BHP-sponsored SME of the Year gong.
“It is absolutely fantastic to win this award,” John said.
“We have won national awards before but we have never done something locally.
“I am very passionate about Bradford. I have been a Bradford company for 22 years.
“I am absolutely over the moon.”
Asked about the secret to his company’s success, John added: “I think it is our passion as a team.
“We have been around a long time and we are doing things right. I have got a fantastic team.
“I always say it is not about me as MD, it is about the team.
“Everybody is celebrating, we are all happy. We are very pleased.”
This business provides premium services designed to help clients understand their technology.
Whether customers require a printer or IT services, Commerce Business Systems offers high-quality solutions.
John’s vision is that “by 2025, we estimate that our growth will increase and exceed £7 million.”
Commerce Business Systems now supplies and supports the majority of the area’s schools and a wide variety of businesses throughout Yorkshire and the North of England.
The company has also long supported Bradford City by supplying their multi-functional printer-copier-scanners, at no cost to the club, and sponsoring a first team player and two high-profile match day games a year.
And where will John place the special award, “I will probably put it in the showroom,” he said.
“My office is not visible, so I want people to see it.”
