A BRADFORD company continues to look for ways to improve after it was selected as winner of the Innovation Award.

The gong, sponsored by Schofield Sweeney, praises businesses who think out of the box to create a product loved by customers.

And that is exactly what Coral Windows, based on Halifax Road, has been doing for the past 34 years.

The business identified a gap in the market for smart tech on windows and doors and built on a product they found from a supplier that had something similar to what Coral Windows had in mind to create something with more functionality.

The product, called Smartframe, updates homeowners on the status of their windows and doors - such as if they are open or closed - as well as using vibration technology to alert them if they are being tampered with.

A notification is also sent to a homeowner’s phone if their glass is smashed.

These smart sensors come inbuilt into every window and door customers purchase.

“It feels amazing to win (The Stitch Company and Slipstream Engineering Design were the other nominees for the award),” said Brendan Cowey, general manager at Coral Windows.

“It is really important to the business to be part of the Bradford community. To be recognised as part of that and give back to the Yorkshire people.

“We are the second most burgled part of the country outside of London.

“We thought it was really important to try and produce something that every person can have access to at any time.”

He added: “Innovation is massive.

“It is quite a commodity driven business. Giving yourself, a point of difference from everybody else is really important. Our innovation does that.

“We are constantly looking at new ways to improve our windows and make them even better.”

The general manager also paid tribute to the company’s home.

“Bradford is massive to us,” Brendan added.

“We have provided 34 years of continuous training. We have always been a Bradford company since we started.

“The owner of the family business is from Bradford originally. It is really important to us to be recognised by the Bradford community.”
