A COUPLE, described as "loving" parents and who had recently celebrated their 25th anniversary, have been named as two of the victims of a tragic fatal crash at the weekend.
West Yorkshire Police was called to the A61 Barnsley Road, between Newmillerdam, in Wakefield, and Staincross, in Barnsley at 3.54pm on Sunday.
It was to reports of a crash involving a Ford Focus and motorbike.
Six people died in the crash - four from the car and a man on the motorcycle, alongside a woman who was a pillion passenger.
Police officially named the victims from the car yesterday as family, Shannen Morgan, aged 30, Shane Roller, aged 33, Rubie Morgan-Roller, aged nine, and Lillie Morgan-Roller, aged four.
The force has now released the names and a picture of the two people on the motorbike.
They are husband and wife, Christopher Barton, aged 56, and Janine Barton, aged 48.
Paying tribute to the couple, they were described by their son as “a loving, caring mum and dad who always put me before everything else.”
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "The couple had recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
"Family liaison officers are supporting both families, and we would ask that people respect their right to privacy at this difficult time. "
Superintendent Alan Travis of Wakefield District Police said: “This is an absolutely tragic incident which has resulted in the loss of six lives.
“Our thoughts go out to the families of those who have died who we are working with to provide support at this time.”
