MORE than 7,600 students have been to a science lab in Bradford in its 14-year history.

Solenis Science Lab for Kids, based at Solenis in Low Moor, aims to provide energising encounters with engineering and science for children aged nine to 11.

With a custom-designed facility honed for Key Stage two children, the lab provides a child-centred zone for hands-on activities under the guidance of Solenis volunteers.

Ranging from testing filtration systems on contaminated water to designing inventions from Lego, the children can embody the roles of either scientists or engineers.

Joanne Love from Solenis said: "Over the years Solenis Science Lab has reached over 7,600 children.

"One notable student visited in primary school, came back for work experience in 2024, and is now set to start an apprenticeship in September 2024."

Solienis Science Lab held more than 18 sessions and reached more than 642 pupils in the 2023-24 school year.

Neil Goddard, the new site manager at Bradford, said: "The Science Lab for Kids encourages students to pursue science-based studies.

"Our Solenis volunteers inspire tomorrow’s scientists and engineers."

The lab announced the dates for the 2024-25 academic year on its Facebook page and eagerly awaits more pupils for more spurring scientific explorations.
