AHEAD of its time, here’s a picture of Noble’s Health Food Stores in John Street, Bradford.
Pictured herein 1969, the shop could give Holland & Barrett a run for its money, with shelves bursting with tins, jars and packets of health-related products.
‘Enjoying good food and talking about it’ is a popular English pastime, says the report that accompanied the picture, adding ‘in recent years there has been a renewed interest in maintaining good health by eating the right types of food.
‘Certainly the desire of vast numbers of people to slim or, at least, to keep their waistline static, has brought about a boom in health foods.’
The report names the owner as Mr PA Richterich, a vegetarian, who sources many products when travelling abroad on business. He was keen to stock products that vegetarians could use. Do you remember it? Did you shop there? Email helen.mead@telegraphandargus.co.uk
