THE fire service has explained why crews were called to a fish and chip shop over the weekend.
Firefighters were spotted by onlookers attending to an incident above Doyle's Fisheries at around 11am on Sunday, July 21.
Multiple fire service vehicles were also at the shop on Otley Road in Shipley.
Today, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) told the Telegraph & Argus it was dealing with a fire involving a chip range.
The service was called to reports of a building fire at 10.35am.
Crews from Shipley, Bradford, and Fairweather Green were called to the scene.
A WYFRS spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.35am to reports of a building fire on Otley Road in Shipley yesterday morning.
"We sent three crews, Shipley, Bradford, and Fairweather Green.
"This was a fire involving a chip range, which was extinguished by crews using breathing apparatus."
