LATEST NEWS: Motorbike rider in 'critical condition' after crash with barrier
A MAN has been rushed to hospital after falling off his motorbike on a busy West Yorkshire road today.
The accident this morning on the North Bridge Flyover is causing "nightmare" traffic chaos in Halifax.
A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call at 11am Sunday morning to a report of a male who had fallen off a motorbike on the North Bridge Flyover in Halifax.
"An ambulance, rapid response vehicle, doctor and team leader were dispatched to the scene and one male patient was conveyed to Leeds General Infirmary."
The crash happened on the northbound carriageway of the A58, which has been blocked and there is queueing traffic in the area.
One traffic alert reported: "The A58 New Bank northbound is blocked with queueing traffic due to accident from A629 Orange Street (Orange Street Roundabout) to A647 Haley Hill.
"Congestion to Haley Hill back to Akroyd Park and surrounding roads around Orange Street roundabout.
"It’s a nightmare," said one local resident. "All the buses going that way have been diverted through Queensbury."
The T&A has contacted West Yorkshire Police for more information.
