ROAD closures are in place around the city centre as police are expecting around 50,000 visitors for today's Leeds Pride event.
The latest traffic alert by Inrix reported: "Delays expected due to Leeds Pride with road closures for the parade from 7am to about 3pm on roads through the city centre between the Leeds Town Hall and the Corn Exchange. The parade will set off at midday."
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire said: "It is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors and is one the UK's largest pride events.
"The procession follows the same route as last year, beginning at Leeds Town Hall at 12 noon, heading through the streets of Leeds and ending at The Calls."
Police are also encouraging visitors to be safe and have offered 'Five Tips for a Safer Pride'.
They are as follows:
- Travel in a group where possible.
- Set a meeting point.
- Look after yourself and your friends.
- Report your suspicions.
- Walk away from danger.
