A VOLKSWAGEN Golf was seized after a young driver who was stopped by police had reportedly taken a car without his mother's consent.

The car was stopped on Northcote Road in Undercliffe after officers from the Steerside Enforcement Team spotted the driver not wearing a seatbelt.

A spokesperson for the Steerside Enforcement Team said: "We stopped this Volkswagen Golf on Northcote Rd due to the driver not wearing a seatbelt.

"It transpired the driver was 15 years old and had taken his mum's car without consent.

"He was dealt with for all offences disclosed and vehicle seized."

Steerside officers also stopped another Volkswagen vehicle on Great Horton Road.

A Steerside spokesperson said: "This Volkswagen Touran was stopped for a due care offence on Great Horton Road.

"The driver was quick to admit to not having a valid licence or insurance and now faces a day in court."
