A POPULAR fast-food restaurant is opening a drive-thru in Bradford next month.

Earlier this week, the Telegraph & Argus reported that the Burger King in The Broadway would be closing its doors on Friday, July 26.

The branch has been there since the shopping centre first opened in 2015.

Plans for the fast-food restaurant on the former Union Mills site on Harrogate Road, which is currently home to a Lidl and Starbucks, were approved in summer 2022.

When the Telegraph & Argus visited on Friday afternoon, the works were almost complete.

The company gained planning permission for the installation of various signage earlier this year.

"Although this is a tall advertisement sign, given the surrounding buildings and street furniture, the sign is acceptable and will not create a visually dominant or incongruous feature in the area.

"The proposed signage overall is considered to have an acceptable impact on the visual amenity of the host building and street scene setting.

"There are no safety issues arising from the signage location, scale or design.

"Illumination will be kept to a minimum and be static and will not cause undue harm to neighbouring residential properties.

"The signage will not be detrimental to highway or pedestrian safety and will not cause any confusion or distraction to drivers due to the adequate set back from the highway."
