A pub walk in West Yorkshire with “picturesque" views and “meadows full of wildlife” has been featured among the best the country has to offer this summer.

It comes as outdoor experts at Millets have revealed their top pub walks in England.

It takes around 4 hours and 14 minutes to complete (a total distance of 14.6km), so you might want to stop at one or two pubs including The White Lion.

Another wrote: “We absolutely adored this walk as it has everything to offer.

“The walk up to Heptonstall certainly gets the heart beating but it’s worth every step as the views are lovely and Heptonstall is so perfect in every way.

“The walk down to the Mill is incredibly enjoyable as you meander through woodland and along an idyllic river with 3 sets of stepping stones.

How often should you walk your dog in the summer?

Natalie Byrne, author and outdoor enthusiast at Millets commented: “A walk is the perfect excuse to get all the family together and moving!

“To allow the whole family to get involved, it is a great idea to choose a route that is accessible to both wheelchairs and prams.

“It is also recommended that you check the difficulty of your walking route as well as the estimated time that it will take for the whole family to walk it.

“Of course, if you have any younger children or any slower walkers, allow for extra time to stop on your walk.”

Natalie added: “Packing the correct equipment can make all the difference between a good walk and a difficult walk.

“I recommend a sturdy pair of walking boots that will support your ankles and be comfortable on longer walks.

“It is also a good idea to pack some lightweight waterproof clothing for the family.

British weather cannot be trusted, and no one wants to sit post-walk in the pub in wet clothes!”
