A LAUNCH event was held this week to open a Bradford district playground which has been given a new lease of life.
The project, at the Jenny Lane playground in Baildon, has been funded with £60,000 from Bradford Council and £20,000 from Baildon Town Council.
Councillors from Bradford Council and Baildon Town Council accompanied parents and children at the official opening on Wednesday.
There were smiles aplenty from the children as they tried out the new play equipment.
The project is part of the final phase of Bradford Council’s Playable Spaces Improvement Programme.
The improvements include better access to the playground, major resurfacing work, restoration of existing equipment, and the inclusion of new pieces to improve accessibility and extend the activities for younger children.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for healthy people and places, said: “I’m delighted to see a much-needed refurbishment of this popular playground which has served generations of Baildon residents.”
Councillor Paul Sharkey, Baildon town councillor, said: “We are extremely pleased to have got this project off the ground with Bradford and the town council’s significant contribution has enabled some really exciting features in the new playground which we hope Baildon children for years to come will enjoy.”
