A FESTIVAL will debut in Bradford tomorrow (Friday) bringing dance, drama, and cuisine.
The Bradford African Festival of Arts begins on Friday in Centenary Square and runs into Saturday as well.
The two-day event will showcase the beauty of African culture and local talents will shine alongside international performers.
One of the festival's key features is a dynamic marketplace.
This will be a treasure trove of authentic African crafts, textiles, and culinary delights.
A spokesperson for the festival said: "This presents a golden opportunity for local businesses and artisans to showcase their products and thrive, further enhancing the economic landscape of Bradford."
They added: "The Bradford African Festival of Arts is not just a cultural celebration, but also a catalyst for economic growth.
"By drawing in visitors and promoting tourism, the festival is set to give a significant boost to the local economy."
The festival, which is supported by the council as part of the Bradford City of Culture 2025 celebrations, will be a platform for cross-cultural dialogue, promoting inclusivity and reinforcing Bradford's reputation as a diverse and welcoming city.
Dr Olushola Kolawole (OAK), the Festival Director and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead for the University of Bradford, School of Management, has worked together with leaders of other African communities, such as Zimbabwe, Ghana, Cameron, Malawi, Caribbean, and other partners to ensure the diversity of the African culture is showcased at the event.
There will be an opening ceremony in the Bright Building, at the University of Bradford tomorrow.
