MUSIC lovers have been invited to explore Cliffe Castle’s musical past and present by immersing themselves in the rhythms of live music at an evening event.

Visitors will be able to join in the Music at the Museum: LATES event, which takes place on Thursday between 5pm and 9pm at the venue in Keighley.

DJ’s Kirran Shah and Rosie Freeman will be blasting out tunes with DJ sets throughout the evening along with performances from dhol drummers.

Visitors will be able to find out about the musical heritage of the venue, and the musical tastes of the Butterfield family, the original owners of the castle.

There will also be demonstrations from local creative Stuart Kaplan who will be showcasing Cliffe Castle’s lithophone, a musical instrument consisting of pieces of rock which are struck to produce musical notes.

There will also be a drop-in workshop for people to whittle their own whistles.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places said: “The Butterfields, the original owners of Cliffe Castle had a love of music, inviting composers and musicians from across Europe to stay and perform as well as hosting a number of balls.

“This event is first in a trial of evening events at the museum and if successful more events will be organised across our other museums.”

Entry on the door to this adults only event is £3. For more information visit www.bradfordmuseums.org
