SHIPLEY will get into the carnival spirit when the town's annual Summer Special event takes place.

A variety of free activities and events will be held throughout the town centre between 10am and 4pm on July 27.

Inflatable assault courses will be in Crowgill Park and Central Park, and there will also be face painting, balloon modelling, dance workshops, a mask trail, and a silent disco in the Underground Market.

A parade of community groups and school children will take place in the town square at 10.30am, and Shipley-based theatre performers, Q20, will host a Carnival Capers stage show at 11am and 2pm.

Live music will also be performed throughout the day.

The event is being organised by Shipley Town Council.

Councillor Mike Farren, chair of the Shipley Town Council Community Engagement Committee, said: "The Shipley Summer Special event has become a calendar favourite and always popular with families across the district.

"With so many free activities to enjoy, it will be a full day of carnival fun and a great opportunity for visitors to explore the parks, shops and eateries Shipley has to offer."
