TWO drug dealers from Keighley who supplied heroin and crack cocaine to undercover police officers on the streets of the town have been locked up.

Dawud Hussain and Farakh Yasin were involved in street dealing using two separate phone lines but were unaware that they were selling to the police.

Hussain, a university graduate with a degree in criminology, has now been jailed for four years and four months, and Yasin for four years.

They are the latest drug pushers to be put behind bars as part of a widespread operation by West Yorkshire Police to target gangs operating in Keighley and Skipton.

Prosecutor Philip Adams told Bradford Crown Court that Hussain, 25, of Victoria Mews, Keighley, supplied cocaine to a female officer on September 6 and 21, and October 8 last year using a “cash” line.

Just over a week later, on October 18 and 19, together with Yasin, 25, of Devonshire Street, Keighley, he sold heroin and crack cocaine to another officer using the “slim” line.

The “cash” line was traced back to Hussain through his home address and email.

The car used in the joint offending in October 2023 was also insured to Hussain.

Both men were identified via covert footage recorded by the undercover officers. At the time they were each subject to suspended sentence orders for similar offences.

Both pleaded guilty to supplying Class A drugs.

The court heard that Hussain had begun using drugs and faced mounting debts, and began supplying drugs as a way of paying off those debts.

Yasin was said to be “merely a passenger” in the car when the deals went ahead and had no understand of how far-reaching the drugs line was.

Sentencing both men, His Honour Judge Colin Burn said they had been caught street dealing by using cash lines that had been set up by people operating above them.

He added: “Nevertheless, you were knowingly and willingly involved.”

He said drug-dealing in Keighley made residents’ lives a misery and had a significant impact on the town and the people that lived there.
