A PERSON who fell off a mobility scooter and into water had to be rescued in an incident at a park this morning.

The incident happened just before 10am at Myrtle Park in Bingley.

A rescue was carried out by firefighters and the person was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called this morning at 0956 to reports of a person in the water at Myrtle Park in Bingley.

"Three crews were sent to the scene (Bingley, Keighley and Shipley).

"One person was rescued from the water by firefighters and handed to the care of ambulance staff."

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call just before 10am on Monday morning to report an incident in Myrtle Park, Bingley where a person had fallen from a mobility scooter into water.

"An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and team leader were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Airedale Hospital."

"A mobility scooter went into river," added a local resident. "The ambulance service, fire brigade and police attended.

"A person was rescued and was taken to hospital.

"There two fire appliances at the scene and two went up where the council offices were in Myrtle Park."
