A PERSON had to be rushed to hospital after suffering smoke inhalation in a flat fire.
Firefighters were called to the scene of a flat fire involving a chip pan on Corfe Close, Batley, at 2.38am on Sunday.
"A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Fire said: "We were called to a flat fire, chip pan involved.
"Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
"One casualty at the property was given oxygen therapy by fire crews before being taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke.
"Smoke detectors were fitted and working at the time of the incident."
Cleckheaton and Dewsbury fire stations attended the scene.
