AN update has been issued on the toilet facilities in Bradford's City Park.

The block has been closed for some time and organisers have now revealed why that was.

A new Changing Place toilet has been installed following the refurbishment.

The facility allows access for wheelchair users who officially opened the area on Friday.

The pavilion toilets remain closed whilst work continues.

A post on the City Park Facebook page read: "You may have noticed that the toilets in City Park have been closed whilst a refurbishment has taken place, and we can now reveal our new Changing Place Toilet.

"We recently received a Government grant which allowed us to remove the back wall and extend the space to meet the 12 square meter size requirement. We stripped everything out and refitted completely new.

"It now has waterproof wall panels instead of tiles to make it easier to clean, a height adjustable handwash basin, a mirror, new hoist and bed, a shower, lots of hooks and a shelf.

"We had some young wheelchair users visiting the Mirror Pool this (Friday) morning, so we took the opportunity to have an impromptu ribbon cutting ceremony.

"The Pavilion toilets are still behind fencing waiting for some parts, but we will let you know when we are open again."

City Park is a public square and is open all year round.

The Mirror Pool operates between 10.00am to 8.00pm all year round.
