A BRADFORD councillor is pleased to have seen how residents have been brought together by cheering on England this Euros.

The Three Lions are only one game away from claiming their first major trophy on foreign soil.

Gareth Southgate's men take on Spain this evening to capture glory for the first time in 58 years.

Whether it be Jude Bellingham's late bicycle kick goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold's amazing penalty kick or Ollie Watkins' dramatic last-minute winner, the journey has been filled with joyous moments.

Bradford Moor ward Councillor Mohammed Shafiq has spoken of how it has all united the community.

Cllr Shafiq said: "As we unite to support our team, we are reminded of the power of sport to bring people together.

"It has been wonderful to see the community join hands in support of our national heroes.

"Local residents have been coming together to watch the matches, celebrating each victory with immense pride.

"Let's continue to show our support and send positive energy to our team. Come on England!"

Cllr Shafiq also highlighted the importance of sportsmanship and the values that football embodies.

He added: "Regardless of the outcome, the journey has been remarkable, and the memories created will be cherished for years to come.

Cllr Shafiq encourages everyone to support the team wholeheartedly and celebrate a historic moment together.
