POLICE have issued an update after a murderer with links to Bradford escaped from prison.

Daniel Barker, 34, was reported missing yesterday morning after he was absent at a roll call at Hollesley Bay Prison in Suffolk.

Barker was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2005 for murder.

Members of the public had been warned not to approach the killer.

This morning, Surrey Police has confirmed Barker was arrested after handing himself in to police in Ipswich last night.

A spokesperson for the force: "A prisoner who absconded from Hollesley Bay has been arrested.

"Daniel Barker, aged 34, was reported missing yesterday morning, Thursday, July 11, after he was absent at a roll call.

"Barker handed himself in to police in Ipswich last night and was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, where he currently remains.

"Officers would like to thank members of the public and media for their assistance with this appeal."
