A DRIVER who had their licence for less than two years and was uninsured was caught speeding at 80 miles per hour.
West Yorkshire Police's Leeds North West Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were out over the weekend supporting Operation Spotlight - a national campaign tackling the leading causes of crashes.
This includes speeding, distraction, impairment, not wearing a seatbelt, and careless driving.
While speed monitoring on Otley Road, in Adel, officers clocked one driver doing 80 mph in the 40mph zone.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said "things got worse for the driver" as further checks showed they did not have insurance and were without an MOT.
They added: "They will be attending court for all three offences and because it is less than two years since they passed their test, they could be looking at having their licence revoked."
Another driver was handed a speeding ticket for being caught doing 60mph on the same road.
The team also conducted speed checks on Victoria Avenue, in Yeadon - a 40mph road that runs towards Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA).
Three people were issued tickets for speeding - one at 50mph, another at 58mph, and the final driver at 60mph.
Officers earlier handed out a ticket to a driver who was seen using their mobile phone while behind the wheel.
The police spokesperson said: "Every single offence listed above could have caused a collision and every single one of them could have been very easily avoided."
