A MOTORWAY had to be closed by police in both directions last night.

The M62 was shut off to drivers by West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) at 10.10pm on Monday evening.

The closure was in place between junctions 24 (Ainley Top ) and 25 (Brighouse).

A spokesperson for National Highways: Yorkshire said: The M62 is closed in both directions near Huddersfield between J24 and J25 due to an WYP RPU led incident.

"Diversion via local roads. Updates to follow soon."

All lanes reopened at 10.25pm after police had cleared the incident.
