NOTHING quite says voting day in Bradford like the sight of a dog outside a polling station.

Pictures of pooches have become an unlikely election trend across the country – and Bradford is no exception.

Whether it's dachshunds in Denholme, bulldogs in Bingley or terriers in Tong, dogs have been playing their part in our city's democracy.

It may be too early to tell if any of our candidates are in for a 'woof night' - but we'll soon find out which politicians are in for a treat and who has made an absolute dog's dinner of their campaign.

Later, we'll get our teeth into some more serious election reporting, with a live blog running overnight.

Our Local Democracy Reporter Chris Young will be barking out the results from the Bradford count, while T&A reporter Daryl Ames will be like a dog after a bone as he seeks to publish the results from Keighley as soon as they're announced.

Feeding on every scrap of information he's thrown will be our Senior Digital Reporter Brad Deas, who'll be running the live blog, as he mixes the local results with everything you need to know from across the rest of the UK as the nation discovers which politicians will be sent on an extended 'walkies'.

Polling stations across Bradford opened at 7am, giving thousands of voters the chance to paws for thought before casting their vote.

Opinion polls suggest Labour has been barking up the right tree and is on course to secure a big majority in the House of Commons and form a new government.
