A DRIVER was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a lamppost.

Godley Road in Halifax closed following the incident just after 4pm this afternoon.

The male driver's injures are not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigation work was being conducted on the road.

The collision is said to have occurred in the area from Beacon Hill Road to Godley Branch Road.

First confirmed their 508 service, which runs to and from Leeds and Halifax, was forced to divert.

The outbound service, also a route that travels through Bradford, went via North Bridge, Boothtown, Claremout Road, and Iron Bridge.

The 548 and 549 services were also diverted onto these roads due to the collision.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Emergency services were called to Godley Road, Halifax at 4.07pm today to a report a car had been in collision with a lamppost.

"The male driver was taken to hospital for injuries which were serious but not believed to be life threatening.

"Recovery was arranged for the vehicle involved."
