PLUMES of smoke could be seen billowing from a fire at a derelict mill building in Bradford this morning (Saturday).

Local residents contacted the T&A about a fire at a building on Listerhills Road in Bradford that was taking place at around 6am today.

Photos and video footage revealed plumes of smoke billowing in the air from the former mill building which has been derelict for many years.

One local resident said the fire brigade was on site at 6.10am.

"The building has been uninhabited and abandoned," said the resident.

The resident added that the fire has since been extinguished.

The fire caused disruption to bus services in the area.

In a post this morning on X, formerly Twitter, First West Yorkshire said: "SERVICE ALERT - 636/637 Incident at Listerhills Road, services are diverting via Great Horton Road, Shearbridge and Legrams Lane in both directions."

It is unknown at the stage if anyone was injured or what caused the fire.
