AN award-winning Keighley drug and alcohol charity has a new face at the helm.

Jo Jepson has been appointed chief executive officer of Project 6.

She will formally take up the appointment in early September.

The charity, whose work has won top-level acclaim, has been providing services for people experiencing challenges linked to drug and alcohol use and multiple disadvantage for over 35 years.

Jo said she was "delighted" to be joining Project 6.

She added: "The work of this incredible charity is very close to my heart, being a passionate advocate of people who face complex and multiple disadvantages.

"I aim to develop its great work, reducing stigma and creating a movement that supports people affected by substance use at whatever stage they're at.

"I’m looking forward to getting to know the team, our partners and the people who use our services, so we can work together to take Project 6 into the future, and it can continue to develop and meet the increasing needs of those in the communities we serve."

Jo has extensive experience of working in the voluntary and community sector.

During a 20-year career in charities, she has been recognised for her record in leadership, strategy and team development.

She joins Project 6 from a chief executive officer role at Base 51, a charity which supports young people’s wellbeing and their transition into adulthood.

Over the coming months, Jo will work with Project 6's outgoing chief executive officer Vicki Beere to widen her understanding of the organisation and familiarise herself with staff, partners and stakeholders.

Vicki says: "It has been a privilege for me to have worked with such a committed and inspiring team.

"As I transition out of the role I'll be spending time with Jo, and I've no doubt that her experience – as well as her dedication to addressing health and social inequalities – will be invaluable to Project 6 and the future of the organisation."

Jo Morley, chair of the board of trustees at Project 6, says: "On behalf of the board I'd like to welcome Jo.

"Her extensive experience in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector – particularly in finance and strategic leadership – will be invaluable as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead. Both the board and I look forward to working with and supporting Jo in her new role and collaborating on developing a shared vision."
