A LARGE primary school in Bradford has been forced to close for at least a day due to an unexpected issue.
Sandal Primary School, in West Lane, Baildon, Shipley announced at 5.38pm on its X profile that it would be shut to all pupils and staff on Tuesday.
This was due to the school's sewage system failing, which means no toilets are currently functioning on site.
Bradford Council's "school closures" page provided further details this morning.
It explained the sewage system needs "pumping out before work to fix the problem can begin" and that is why none of the toilets are available.
The full post from Sandal Primary said: "School will be closed to all pupils & staff on Tuesday 25th June due to sewer pump failure, meaning we have no toilets functioning on site.
"We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause parents and hope to resolve the situation as quickly as possible."
The school said via Bradford Council: "We hope to be able to reopen on Wednesday but will keep you updated."
Sandal Primary is a community school that caters for children aged between three and 11.
It had 457 pupils on the school roll at the time of its last Ofsted inspection, in November 2023.
