FURTHER details have emerged from the fire service after a man was saved from a river yesterday.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) told the Telegraph & Argus today that it was called at 2.10pm on Saturday to Victoria Road, in Saltaire to reports of a person in the water.
Pictures sent to the T&A showed a huge emergency response at the scene, which was near The Boathouse Pub, next to the River Aire at Roberts Park, in Saltaire.
A spokesperson for WYFRS said three crews rushed to the scene - two from Bradford and one from Bingley.
They added: "One casualty was removed from the water by crews and transported to hospital."
The man was rushed to Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS).
YAS said yesterday that it was called to the area by WYFRS.
Two ambulances, a team leader, and rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene.
A resident said the entrance to Roberts Park and The Boathouse were closed off on Saturday while emergency services dealt with the situation.
They said: "A man fell in to river in front of The Boathouse at Roberts Park.
"Firemen pulled him out and gave him CPR.
"He was taken to hospital in an ambulance."
But another person, who was at The Boathouse at the time, disputed this and said the man was "floating from upstream" and was "already face down in the water".
Another resident who was at the scene said: "First response in the form of a fire commander and an initial pump arrived at 2.15pm.
"The area opposite the scene was cleared and bridge closed at approximately 2:35pm while resuscitation was attempted and rescue took place."
The T&A has contacted West Yorkshire Police for comment.
