WORK to install the first planters in newly created pedestrian areas of Bradford city centre began this week.
The planters are being created on Hall Ings, and once completed will bring greenery and vegetation to the street – which has been closed to traffic since earlier this Spring.
The Government funded transforming Cities Fund work will see areas of the city centre including Hall Ings, Market Street and parts of Bridge Street pedestrianised, with new trees and “pocket parks” created.

This will include an extension to Norfolk Gardens, which will now stretch from City Hall to the site of the former NCP car park, which is in the process of being demolished.
Other work taking place this week includes new paving being installed in the new pedestrian areas.

Parts of the safety fencing on Market Street will be relocated in the coming days, increasing the footway space for pedestrians as the paving work progresses.
