AN outdoor theatre show in memory of the founder of Shipley’s Q20 theatre company is one of the attractions at Rae Gala in Northcliffe Woods.
Giant letters spelling ‘Shipley’ have been decorated by schoolchildren, Shipley College students, Rainbows and community groups for the event. John Lambert, who died in 2021, founded Q20 in 1969 to provide opportunities for northern performers. He was also a supporter of the Friends of Northcliffe, providing props and entertainers for events.
Taking place on Sunday, July 7, 2-4.30pm, the gala will feature a performance by street theatre and indoor/outdoor arts specialists Q20 with Stars, a local inclusive dance school.
Other events include Slow-Lympics, a ‘strongest snail contest’, and performances from the Great Yorkshire Chorus and Hall Royd brass band, Rainbow Morris Dancers and Northwind Tribal Belly Dance, as well as miniature steam trains from Bradford Model Engineering Society.
There will also be crafts, face painting, donkey rides, head massage, and demonstrations of Aikido and jiu jitsu.
