FIREFIGHTERS carried out a rescue after a man got stuck in a culvert in fast flowing water caused by heavy downpours last night.
The fire service and their special water rescue team were called at 6.23pm yesterday (Tuesday) to Water Lane to a report of a man who got stuck in a culvert in fast-flowing water.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a report of a male who had been walking his dog and was now stuck in a culvert in fast-flowing water following inclement weather.
"Crews on scene requested a further water rescue crew and the assistance of an Ambulance Hazardous Area Response Team for use of their water rescue assets.
"The male was rescued from the water and checked over by ambulance service. Police also attended."
Engines from Leeds, Hunslet, Killingbeck and Rothwell fire stations were called to the scene along with the specialist water rescue teams.
