A MOTORBIKE rider has been seriously injured today in a collision on a major Bradford road.

Cutler Heights Lane is currently shut to traffic, not far from its junction with Holmewood Road.

The injured rider has been taken to hospital, although the extent of the injuries is not yet clear.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 4.26pm, police were called by the ambulance service to a report of a serious road traffic collision involving a motorbike on Cutler Heights Lane, Bradford.  
 
"The motorbike rider suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.  
 
"Road closures have been put in place at this time, whilst enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances regarding the collision."
 

Streets within the police cordon include Mitre Court, Green Mount and Alma Street.

An onlooker told the T&A: “It’s closed near Mitre Court for about100ft down the road.

“I can see two undercover police cars and three marked police cars all with their light on.

"I'm assuming it's pretty serious looking at the number of police who are here and the length of the road closure."

One motorist told the T&A: "Traffic was awful around there - it caused major traffic issues in rush hour."
